This error is caused by tightened security settings in Internet Explorer 8. To resolve this, add the PaperVision site to the Trusted sites or Local intranet security zones by following these steps:

1. Double-click the ‘Internet’ globe icon in the lower right corner of the browser window, or select Tools - Internet Options and open the Security tab.
2. Select Trusted Sites and click Sites.
3. Enter the PaperVision URL in the “Add this website to the zone” field and click Add. For example, enter https://login.imagesilo.com if you are using ImageSilo. Note: You will need to disable Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone if your URL does not start with https:.
4. Restart Internet Explorer and scanning should now function properly.
