Yes, the Duplicate Document command can be used to do exactly this. When you have a document that needs to be duplicated like this, selecting the Duplicate Document command from the Edit menu will prompt you to "Enter the number of duplicate documents to create." If you need 5 copies of one check, then enter 4 (original scanned image plus 4 duplicates).

Note that duplicating an image only creates new records in the database that point to the same image; it does not make a copy of that image. This helps to keep the data group size much smaller.
