Error: 25058 Socket is not connectedmain image

Description

In PaperVision Data Transfer Manager, when attempting to transmit data via the FTP transfer type, the following error is received: Error: 25058; Socket is not connected.

Summary

This error may indicate an issue with transmitting data due to the local network configuration.  This includes blocked ports, firewalls, and proxy servers which can all impact FTP transmissions.

The following items may help in resolving this error:

Launch PaperVision Data Transfer Manager.  From the Data Transfer job properties on the Transfer tab:

  • Click the drop down box next to “Connection” and change the setting from Active to Passive (or vice versa). Click the Test button to verify the FTP Settings.  Note:  Not all FTP servers accept both connection types.
  • Click the drop down box next to “SSL Mode” and select None (No SSL Encryption) or one of the other settings available from the drop down list. Click the Test button to verify the FTP Settings.  Note:  Some networks only allow non-SSL FTP traffic.

From the Data Transfer job properties on the General tab:

  • Enable the “Create Compressed Package File” option. Click the Test button on the Transfer tab to verify the settings.  Note:  Some firewalls will terminate the FTP connection if too many sockets have been opened in a short time period.  Creating a compressed package file will only open one socket for the transfer.

If after trying the above options, the error continues to be received, please contact Technical Support.
