When attempting to login to PaperVision Enterprise After updating Windows XP Pro to SP2 (Service Pack 2) you receive an Error -28000 Description: Error connecting to the SQL Server Error -2147467259: [DBNETLIB][Connection Open (Connect()).] SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Summary
If you are running MSDE you will need to download the latest SQL Service Pack from Microsoft.
Running the Service Pack will extract the setup files to a specified directory. For example, “C:\temp2”
You then must run this switch to the specified location by clicking on Start, Run
C:\temp2\msde\setup.exe /upgradesp sqlrun DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 BLANKSAPWD=1 SECURITYMODE=SQL
Once the install is complete, make sure the Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe (right click, then properties) file version is 2000.80.760.0 or newer this will make sure the files been updated correctly.
Now make sure TCP/IP is enabled by going to and running this file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\svrnetcn.exe
Now stop and restart your SQL service and you should be able to login to PaperVision Enterprise again.
Note: If you are running Full SQL you will need to download and install the sql2ksp3.exe from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=90dcd52c-0488-4e46-afbf-acace5369fa3&DisplayLang=en
No switches are required to properly install this upgrade.
