Description
Summary
Halftone Filter may remove some of the text in areas of images where halftone shading is also removed. This occurs because the background shading and the text have similar grayscale values.
To prevent this, run the Dilation feature (found under Administration | Modify Project in data group | Character Enhancement) prior to Halftone Filter in the Processing Order to increase the pixel size of the characters on the page - in essence making them bolder. Setting the Dilation Amount to a value of one is recommended for the first use of this feature.
By default, this feature uses Horizontal and Vertical Dilation, but this may cause the background halftone to darken in addition to dilating the text. In this case try using Diagonal Dilation only, instead of Horizontal and Vertical Dilation. Diagonal Dilation may sometimes prevent the darkening of the background shading caused by Horizontal and Vertical Dilation.
