Receive Error -2147220986: Method "~" of object "~" failed.

Summary

This error commonly only occurs in PaperFlow 4.xx. The most common resolution to this error is to set the Auto-Mark Type to None in the project settings. Try scanning again and if that is successful then set the Auto-Mark Type back to what it was previously and that should clear this error. If that does not clear the error message, follow these steps to get the error resolved:

  1. Uninstall PaperFlow. This can be done by going into the Control Panel and selecting Add/Remove Programs and selecting PaperFlow. Note: this will not affect your data groups. Once PaperFlow is reinstalled, it will reconnect to the data groups automatically.
  2. Once PaperFlow is removed, search Windows for "SETSCAN.INI" and delete it from the system. Then search for "PIX*.*" and delete all of the files that are found.
  3. Reboot the system and reinstall PaperFlow. Once you log back into the system, you should be able to reselect the scanner and operate normally from there. Upgrading PaperFlow will also resolve this issue.
