The most likely cause of this error is someone switching dongle keys around from station to station.

If a project is setup to read/mark on barcodes or capture OCR and the dongle key is removed and switched with one that does not support the selected feature, this error will be generated. Either disable the barcode/OCR functions or switch back to the correct dongle key.
