Natural disasters can devistate any organization. In fact, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 40% of small businesses fail after a natural disaster. This is especially true for organizations that still handle their files manually or on paper. Are your records protected if disaster struck?
The San Antonio River Authority (SARA), was set up after the devastating floods of 1914 and 1913 and is one of many river authorities in the state with the purpose of developing and managing the state’s water resources. They know better than anyone the devastating effects of flooding on the communities of San Antonio, otherwise known as “flood alley”. SARA knew that they needed to switch to an electronic records management system, not only to protect their records from floods and other natural disasters, but also to improve their customer service. At the time, they only had one person that could respond to information requests because they were the only one that knew where certain records were located.
SARA worked with CASO, a Digitech Systems reseller, to create a solution. All incoming documents are scanned through PaperVision® Capture and then securely stored in-house with PaperVision® Enterprise, an on-premise Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system. Now all of their documents are safe from potential natural disasters and easily accessible to anyone, at any time, from virtually anywhere. This has saved them money and improved the flow of information across the entire organization.
“We don’t lose time anymore researching and getting documents. Thanks to PaperVision Enterprise, we know where they are, and we are able to get to them quickly, from anywhere.”
– Jordon Merson, Database and Development Administrator, SARA
