After installing PaperVision Tools and then attempting to launch Microsoft Outlook you receive the following message: Unable to cast COM object of type 'PVDMShared.cUtilityClass' to interface type 'PVDMShared._cUtility

Summary

This error indicates that the PVDMShar.DLL did not register properly during the installation of the PaperVision Tools application.

To resolve this issue, manually register the PVDMShar.DLL by following the steps below:

  1. Click Start then select Run
  2. Type: REGSVR32 "<Program Files>\Digitech Systems\Common Files\PVDMShar.DLL"
  3. Click OK

If you successfully registered the PVDMShar.DLL you should receive a message stating something similar to:

DLLRegisterServer in <Program Files>\Digitech Systems\Common Files\PVDMShar.DLL succeeded.

Click OK and you should now be able to launch Microsoft Outlook with no additional issues.
