Description
Summary
There are three scenarios that cause this behavior.
- Scenario 1: A Firefox user installs the PaperVision Web Assistant through the Firefox browser (i.e. Firefox is open during the installation). When a user then tries to view a document using the Web Assistant in Firefox they get a PaperVision Web Assistant Not Found message.
- To resolve this issue, close and then re-open their Firefox browser.
- Firefox should now detect the PaperVision Web Assistant.
- Scenario 2: If a user installs the PaperVision Web Assistant and then installs Firefox, when they attempt to view a document within Firefox (via the Web Assistant), they get a PaperVision Web Assistant Not Found message. This only happens when Firefox is installed after the Web Assistant has already been installed. To resolve this issue, user can either:
- Un-install the Web Assistant, and then re-install the Web Assistant.
- The user can browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Digitech Systems\PaperVision\PVWA and execute “FirefoxUtil.bat”. This batch file will automatically add an exception to Firefox for the Web Assistant’s SSL certificate.
- Scenario 3: If Windows user other than the account that installed Firefox, who does not have administrator rights on the machine attempts to view a document, they are prompted that the PaperVision Web Assistant is not installed. To resolve this situation, the user needs to add a security exception in Firefox:
- Open Firefox.
- Browse to https://localhost:8731/dsi.pvwa.host/iservicelistener/help (where ‘8731’ is the port selected for the PaperVision Web Assistant)
- Click on the option “I Understand the Risks”
- In the window that opens up, enable the option “Permanently store this exception” and then click “Confirm Security Exception”.
Note: Firefox’s option to “Always use private browsing mode” must be disabled in order to make the change in Scenario 3.
